1K a year Position Summary The Education and Training Manager/Senior Instructor will support high quality instruction for Workforce Development and Education programming at Project HOPE, leading to the improvement and management of curricula and directly supervising the work of instructors, support staff, and volunteers.
Project HOPE currently serves 60 students in its English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program with plans to increase capacity in July.
Classes are held for six hours each week and are funded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and private foundations.
Project HOPE is also in the process of identifying new areas for workforce development training.
The Manager will have the opportunity to collaborate on curriculum development for these new options in partnership with Project HOPE senior program leadership to identify opportunities for streamlining and integrating the two curricula.
This position involves some evening availability to support nighttime classes and instructors.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Education Programming Improve the program's ESOL curricula to ensure alignment with the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards (MA ELPS).
Solicit feedback from instructors and students to update curricula on a routine basis.
Ensure digital literacy is integrated into each instructional unit.
Work with the Recruitment and Enrollment Coordinator to develop and maintain partnerships with external providers to facilitate referrals.
Work with other Education Department staff to schedule and conduct Student Orientations.
Collaborate with Project HOPE's Learning, Evaluation, and Compliance department to develop, administer, and analyze student surveys.
Coordinate BESTPlus 2.
0, TABE CLAS-E Reading, and TABE CLAS-E Writing assessment sessions for pre- and post-testing.
Administer and score assessments, enter scores into databases, and track learning gains.
Provide feedback to instructors based on students' performance.
Work closely with Employment Specialist and ESOL Student Partner to monitor student progress to college and career goals and outcomes.
Develop curricula for grant proposals and future programming, including contextualized ESOL and citizenship preparation training.
ESOL Instruction Support Supervise and support a team of ESOL instructors to ensure instruction is rigorous and culturally relevant to students' diverse backgrounds.
Conduct formal and informal observations guided by the ESOL Professional Standards at least once a semester.

Support Instructors with lesson plan development aligned to the Massachusetts English Language Proficiency Standards and Project HOPE's curriculum.
Monitor attendance data entry into LACES and Salesforce As needed, act as backup for Daytime or Nighttime ESOL Instructor; when necessary, act as temporary lead teacher.
Serve as a source of knowledge for ESOL instructors and coordinate relevant professional development training on-site and through other providers.
Workforce Development Programming Support Contribute to the design of new training programs, including assisting with grant applications and developing new curricula.
Conduct research into relevant industries, credentials, and career pathways to inform curricula.
Work closely with the Employment Specialist to solicit feedback from employer partners to design programming relevant to their needs.
Hire, train, and supervise instructors to teach new workforce programming.
Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to instructors at least once a cohort.
Serve as a source of knowledge for instructors and coordinate relevant professional development training on-site and through other providers.

Responsibilities:
Monitor student data in external and internal databases.
Work with Project HOPE's Development team and Learning, Evaluation, and Compliance team to compile quarterly and annual reports.
Coordinate the ordering of classroom materials and other supplies.
o Attend all Project HOPE Staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned as the needs of students dictate.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in TESOL, TEFL, or TESL with at least two years of experience in providing ESOL/ABE instruction OR at least seven years providing ABE/ESOL instruction required.
Significant content knowledge of and experience in adult education with a focus on low-income community members, individuals with significant barriers to employment, and/or homeless families preferred.
At least one year of supervisory experience required.
Experience working within communities of color and an understanding of the Social Determinants of Health, racial equity, and how socio-economic barriers impact many of our students.
Cultural humility.
Strong communication skills, inter-personal skills, and classroom management skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
