You will be standing the entirety of your shift while greeting and helping passengers.
Successful applicants will have the ability to work the following shift:

The shifts will be a preferred 4 days per week schedule.
You will be required to be available to work both Saturday and Sunday.
At this time, we may be unable to accommodate extensive schedule restrictions.
MBTA Transit Ambassadors are responsible for the safety of riders.
Due to the serious nature of the job, we are required to do a full 13 panel drug screen (which will include marijuana) as a part of our hiring process.
TO BE CONSIDERED FOR HIRE YOU MUST HAVE WEEKEND AVAILABILITY MUST BE ABLE TO PASS DRUG TEST.
WE DO TEST FOR MARIJUANA Two years of continuous hospitality and customer service experience, ideally in a supervisory role.
Our Transit Ambassadors ACTIVELY ENGAGE with riders through their entire shift.
That means that we go out of our way to say, Hello and Have a great day! You will be expected to have great communication skills, flexibility and will know what hospitality and responsibility are.
Candidates should be prepared to work in varied conditions.
Most stations are enclosed, but some have open-air and immediate access to the outdoor.
It gets hot and it gets cold.
The riders in the station are often the unsheltered population which means our Customer Service Transit Ambassadors are exposed to some unique situations.
Essential Functions:
- Being Visible and Engaging- The Transit Ambassador will be highly visible in the specified areas, most commonly stations entrances and exits to maximize engagement with riders.
Transit Ambassadors will continually offer a greeting to the public.
Transit Ambassadors will speak up and proactively offer assistance to those persons who appear to need assistance with navigation with how to navigate the MBTA transit system and offer directions to destinations or instructions on fare payment/ticket use.
Transit Ambassadors assist persons with disabilities by assisting in the deployment of the bridge plate for wheelchairs or other mobility devices.
Being kind, courteous and customer facing.
Taking Ownership in Assigned Stations- Transit Ambassadors will most often be the only MBTA representative in their assigned stations and will take complete ownership of all aspects of the station happenings during their shift.
TA's are in charge of everyone's safety.
Everyone's pleasant ride.
This will involve:
- Patrolling the platform every 15 to 20 minutes to:
- Note any newly found maintenance abnormalities such as:
- Pick up isolated pieces of litter in the station with a grabber and bag.
This is important.
We are required to pick up the station as well as be courteous.
- Identify any unacceptable behaviors or abnormalities and address or report as appropriate.
These might include:
Disorderly conduct Unsheltered and Unhoused Persons sleeping in the stations.
Persons acting erratically.
Any situation deemed to be unsafe to individuals, other riders or the normal operations of the trains.
- Respond to emergency situations following outlined protocol:
We are front-line responderswe are the folks who sound the alarm for the transit police.
- Activity Reporting-all activities will be reported through usage of a smart device on station iPad.
