Financial Analyst III at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Brookline, MA

The Grant Accountants provide day-to-day post-award management of all grants and contracts awarded to DFCI. Safeguards all DFCI assets for grants while maintaining sound fiscal controls and compliance according to the terms and conditions set by each sponsor. Requirements Responsible for the post-award management of approximately $35 - 40 million dollars of complex grants and contracts Ensures all personnel and other related charges are expensed to the grant according to the terms and conditions of various federal and non-federal agencies Reviews and approves all personnel and non-personnel cost transfers to ensure they are allocable, allowable, and conform to the aims of the grant Prepares all interim and annual financial reports by deadline set by sponsor Prepares monthly journal entries while ensuring clear and concise audit trails to support each transaction Works with Grants & Contracts staff and Research department administrators to resolve complex issues associated with managing grants Working with the Office of Grant & Contracts, ensures all relevant information, associated with setting up and tracking grants in the PeopleSoft system, is accurate and according to the terms set by the sponsor Responsible for the quarterly detailed reporting of all American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) awards to DFCI and its sub recipients All other projects as assigned Prepare, analyze, and submit quarterly Federal Cash Transaction reports for all Dept. of Army grants and contracts to the Federal government Mentors junior staff in performing their day to day functions Facilitates in the enhancements of the PeopleSoft application, including testing and review of all new applications Serves on various committees within Research accounting, Finance, and Grants & Contracts to enhance PeopleSoft financial systems as well as DFCI's standard operating procedures Develops monthly financial reporting for senior management to track the status of all research grants Special projects as assigned Qualifications BS/BA required. Minimum of 5 + years in post-award accounting required. This level is responsible for a higher grant portfolio; performs tasks with minimal supervision and is an active participant on various committees. Position also acts as a mentor for junior staff. Knowledge of all federal regulations associated with managing federal grants and contracts Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting principles and practices Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels in and outside of DFCI PeopleSoft skills highly desirable Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions Ability to interpret and explain rules and regulations associated with managing Federal grants Ability to maintain favorable working relationships with a wide variety of professional groups Ability to meet deadlines Ability to multi-task and function as an integral member of the teamSalary Range: $80K -- $100K Minimum QualificationCorporate Finance

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
