2021 STAR Academy Summer Program Teachers

4.1 Temporary 8 hours ago Full Job Description Twelve (12) anticipated teaching positions in Brookline's STAR Academy, a summer program for English learners and METCO students entering grades K through 8. Program Information: The program runs from Monday, July 19 through Friday, August 20, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The program may be extended on specific dates to accommodate project-based learning experiences. Students in the program have been primarily referred by their EL teacher(s) or METCO advisors/social workers. The projected class size is fifteen students, allowing teachers to provide for each student's individual needs. Additional staff including a program director, a lead teacher, student aides, classroom paraprofessionals, and a social worker will be provided during the program. Teacher Responsibilities: Work from either 8:00 am to 1:30 pm or 8:30 am to 2:00 pm daily except on days when the program may be extended to accommodate special programming. Attend up to 2 meetings/orientation sessions prior to the start of the program and commit to a maximum of 8 hours of paid preparation before the program begins. Preparation days would take place between April 26 and June 30, 2021. Design and teach a curriculum that provides opportunities for students to increase their skills in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension as well as learn content area vocabulary and concepts. Communicate regularly with families and report on each student's progress. Job Requirements: Experience teaching students in any grades K-8 Knowledge of best instructional practices in teaching English as a second language and supporting content learning for all students Knowledge of local and state learning expectations in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies Familiarity with National Geographic resources: Avenues, Reach, Inside the U.S.A. Ability to implement culturally responsive teaching practices that support the diverse needs of students in the program Willingness to collaborate with colleagues MA teaching license (ELL/ESL or related field preferred) At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred Master's degree preferred Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
